Back 2 School Craft– Aug.7 @4pm
Come in and make a cool folder to carry your notes and homework! We will be recycling some old Summer Reading logs into a fun, new creation!

Teen Book Club-Aug. 16 @4pm
It is the return of the TCPLS Teen Book Club! We took a hiatus for Summer Reading. Be prepared to discuss your favorite read over the summer and plan on the next month’s genre/ topic.

Movie Night!-Aug. 21 @3:30pm
Let’s take a bit of time to relax after the start of school by taking in a movie and enjoy some popcorn!

Knit Wits!- Aug. 23 @4:30pm
Time for a Teen thread art group! Bring in your own supplies (needles, thread, yarn, etc.) and let’s get together to share our skills and projects. From the novice to skilled, come and share the fun!

As we soak in the sadness of the end of summer, we can relish in the opportunities with the new school year. Please remember we are here with homework help, college information, and a  variety of  resources to help make your school year successful! Prizes are Ready!

Hey to all of you out there! I have prizes ready for many of you to come and pick up! While I can't release that info on here, please come by and check with me at the Reference desk. I tried to call many of you and left messages with some, but you never know. You could have been one of the winners!

We are going to take a little break from activities until school starts back and them we will be back into full swing. Sorry guys, I need a mini vay-k after all of Summer Reading's planning and programs. So these mental break is much need not only for me but also to gear you up for a successful school year!

Last Day!

Please come in at 12 noon today to enjoy the artistic styling of Michael White, illustrator! Bring your lunch, we got some sweet tea and ice water for you to drink.

Please turn in your Reading Logs and BINGO Sheets by 5:30pm today to claim credit for prizes!
Winners will be notified by phone between Monday, July 16th- Wednesday, July 18th. Then Ms. Pamela (me) will be taking a much need vacation to the beach. Yippie!

Last Week of Summer Reading!

Whoa! Already? How did this happen?!?! Anywhos, let's enjoy this last week and have a last hurray!

Up This Week: Nocturnal Nights

July 10             Owls- Tigers of the Night Sky @ 3PM

"Owls Are the Tigers of the Sky," a movie, in seven parts, about four native owl species to this area. This film, by St. Francis Wildlife’s Wild Classroom education director Sandy Beck, explores these beautiful creatures. Afterwards, create a fun craft using recycled socks into an owl!

July 12             Pizza Party and Games! @ 3PM

Come celebrate the end of Vacation Summer Reading with a special after library hours party just for teens! Enjoy pizza, video games, movies, and hanging out! What a great way to end all the hard work and fun! 

July 13             Brown Bag Lunch & Drawing Workshop with Michael White! @ 12

Participate in a drawing workshop with book illustrator, Michael White. No skills necessary –come for the fun! We'll provide paper, pencils, and drinks. You just provide your participation and own brown bag lunch!

DON'T FORGET! READING LOGS HAVE TO BE TURNED IN BY 5:30PM ON FRIDAY, JULY 13TH TO GAIN CREDIT FOR PRIZES. ALL PRIZE WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED BY PHONE NEXT WEEK BETWEEN MONDAY, JULY 16TH-WEDNESDAY, JULY 18TH.

*Week 5 July 1-7 Stealth and Security


Whoa! How Time is Flying!

 I can't believe that we have less than 2 weeks left of Summer Reading! What? Already? I am really enjoying spending time with all of you and helping each one of you find new adventures through reading. Last week was a blast as we played Zombies vs. Humans and we enjoyed Vampires vs. Werewolves. I actually watched a Twilight movie. First one ever! It might get me a bit interested in the series after all. 

So up this week!

July 3               Night-time Ninja Challenge @ 3PM

“Train” to be stealthily, night-time Ninjas using the highly sophisticated and proven training techniques.  Teens complete each training exercise in groups, competing against one another.  The group that earns the most points wins Top Ninja.            
           
July 5               Self-Defense and Safety Seminar with Officer Hembree @ 2:30PM

Officer Penny Hembree of the Thomasville Police Department will be here to discuss what you can do to protect yourself. Please be prompt and questions are encouraged!
